Default Yamaha/Mercury Outboard prop question

I have an 01 Yamaha 250 and I'm prop shopping. Will a 15 spline Merc prop fit a V6 Yamaha?
Many props I've seen advertised say they fit both.
Before I pay for a Merc prop for the Yamaha I need to know for sure it will fit.
Thanks for advice!
Jim

I just purchased a 17p x 14 1/2" five blade & 19p x 14 1/2" four blade - I currentl run a 19 or 21 3 blade on my 300 Yammy CC - props should be here next week - I'll let you know the results - I was mostly looking to get my slip numbers from 22% down to the low teens -

Wish I had results - I purchased a 4 & 5 blade SS props from HillMarine - they took much longer to arrive than anticipated and they did not arrive with prop hubs that I have already paid for and Ron Hill has not answered the phone or e-mails for 2 weeks - If you want cheap prices and poor service give Hillmarine a try - I'll grab some Merc prop hubs until I find one that fits the Hill prop and Yammy shaft - The river has not frozen over yet so there is still time to get results -

The Newer Merc propellers will fit as they have the interchangable hubs. Mercury makes a hub kit specifically for the Yamaha's.
