less than a 1/4 tank of gas, driver and one passenger only.
4700-4800 = 62.4 Smooth water. Think the chop can add the 3 mph back to it? |
What prop are these numbers from?
Yes, chop helps most all boats to go faster. The design and size of the boat determines the best size of the chop. My little 20' padded V loves 6" chop and my buddies 42 Fountain like 3' chop. |
23p mirage plus..

ok 1/4 tank just me, 63.6....6 inch chop.. so nothing really.
23 mirage plus |
You do need more "chop" to get the best number.

so brett, after all this thread, what do you think we should do, that way i can getit done before summer.
|
you should buy a 24 b1 from brett or ask him about the rev 23 4 blade if you buy from him you and test the props and he will lab it for you. I am going to try a 32 or 34 b1 this summer and have him lab it.

The 23 Labbed with a little extra rake should do the trick nicely. Your slip # is good and you have room to grow rpm wise. Additional adjustments will allow you to get the trim you need and are missing out on. Plus, you have the propeller. The only advantage to the 4 blade should be the low end and cruise speed. However, your boat seemed to like the 3 blade throughout other than the top end in the first testing. We now see equal top end numbers without the Labbing. Again the 3 blade works great on these hulls.
Call me if you wish to discuss it more in depth. Brett |
I love this thread!
I was desperately hoping someone would do a comparison on a 3 vs 4 blade of varying pitch unlabbed in a boat with a similar set up to mine! I'll probably wind up comparing a 3 blade Mirage +, 4 Blade B1and a 5 Blade P5X or something eventually! Anyone heard of anyone in Australia who labs props? Surely there must be someone! (Sorry for the thread Hijack Pontiac, back to you mate!) |
We actually do Lab work for a few ski racing teams in Australia. We ship back and forth.
One of my customers did say there is a custom propeller shop in your country. However, he never mentioned a name nor did I ask. |
