prop results

Ok, 1999 Baja 252 Boss, 454 MAg motor. boat came with a 4blade bravo prop 22p, just bought 23p Mirage +...

Boat had full tank of gas, but tried both out to see the differnecewith same dya testing.

4 blade Bravo (22p)
3500 = 37 mph
4000 = 44-45 mph
wot 4700-5000 = 63 mph, 2 foot chop 1/4 tank of gas, just me driving (norrmally just at 60 on normal water and 1/2 tank)

3 blade Mirage+ (23P)
3500 = 40 mph
4000 = 47 mph
WOT 4800 = 59.8 full of gas, and 2 people, smooth as silk water (likes a chop better)

So i think i will see the 3 mph I wanted out of this prop once i burn some of the gas out, and play ins some chop... thoughs?

id stick with the 22 and had it labbed to gain a little rpm , as you loose fuel the 4 blade will also gain

4700-5000 is a large difference. Need accurate numbers to give the best advice.

Otherwise this shows how some Baja's love 3 blades. I will say it isn't common for the 3 blades to beat the 4 at low rpm's.

I will get better numbers int he next few weeks.

ok I can only trim the 23 mirage + to 4800 rpm's
but i can trim the 22 4blade to a littl over 5000 but it does nothing that high.

also i took out he black plugs to help it cavitate on the start and no matter howi tried it, it would not get on plane, just spun. I thought the prop was spun at first, tried a few things, and ten put the plus in and it ran normal again.

A Labbed 24 Bravo 1 with the appropriate trailing edge configuration should give you the best top end and better cruise than the 22 B1 or the 23 M+. We should be able to get you into the 4800 range.

I thought you said before that a Mirage + 23p was the best one for my set up, so i bought it. I guess i can try the other one out... but confused now, is it becasue of the results? or what

90% of Baja hulls run the best top end numbers with 3 blade props. That is a given. My early post suggested the 3 blade was the better prop on the low end which isn't often the case.

Once the numbers were confirmed, it showed us the B1 prop ran a better top speed and slightly worse in the middle. Again, reversed from the norm.

Because of that info, I beleive the 24 four blade will improve the mid over the 23 M+ and with the Lab process we can gain the rpm loss back and improve over the 22 B1 numbers on the top.

3/4 tank gas, noone but me on boat, and smoth as glass watter
63.1 @ 4600 rpms.

3100 rpm's = 37.6 gps.
35000 = 43 gps
