torque shift props
Does any run torque shift props on there boats ? The Land and Sea Co used to make a variable pitch prop not sure if there still around .
|
I knew a guy who used to run one on an outboard skiboat.
It worked pretty well for that application. Their website http://www.land-and-sea.com Looks like they sold the design: Torque-Shift Props and Parts (Discontinued) All our remaining service parts for the shifting prop line were recently sold to a third-party company. While this company is not affiliated with Land & Sea, we understand they plan to sell these components as well as manufacture some of the "no longer available" ones. Phone if you need more information. |
i got on if you want it 50.00 bucks

We had them at Mercury for years. Called Power2
They were great for 20 something sport boats in the 40-60 mph ranges. Problems with the longevity though. Through hub exhaust seemed to expedite the failures. The prop is no longer made and the service parts are almost extinct. I have 2 new shells in the shop. We stole the cam system out of them a few years back for some one else. |
props
Did anyone ever try them on 38+ twin eng ?What did they do . Just curious. thanks Dan

I had a demo video at one time from Land & Sea. Pretty cool concept, not good for much over 250 HP if I remember. |
I used one years ago on a runabout with a V6. It was a maintenence nightmare and replacement parts were expensive. Oh, and it vibrated like mad, especially when one of the cams got hung up.
Cool concept....bad design implementation. |

Torque shift-
.....sent it back to Land and Sea in a box with all the springs hanging out of it after one run. It's supposed to handle up to 500HP if I remember correctly.
It couldn't take my SB Chevy on pump gas at under 4K RPM. Another buddy tried one on his Wellcraft nova, and I was there when he did - and backing it out off the ramp as soon as he put the boat in reverse the blades opened up like the gills of a fish and knocked off the trim tab in 1/4 of a second- and bent a blade before we even got under way. The product needs work- there is supposedly another shift-able prop on the market anybody.... Uncle Dave |
Heres another product thats switches pitches-
http://www.aerostarmarine.com/runabouts.html Its a 2 speed thing vs the land a sea "continuously variable" version.... Uncle Dave |
