27 Fountain Fever prop help
 

I have a 2000 Fountain Fever 27' with a 502 mag and 1.5 ratio bravo 1. I have a hydromotive 4 blade 15 1/2 x 23 pitch prop on it now which came on the boat. The boat runs 67mph (gps) 68mph (gaffrigspeedo)@ 4950rpm's with 2 people on the boat, app 30 gal of fuel, 2-3mph wind and pretty smooth water (fresh).
I want to get more top speed out of it.
What prop should I use ?

According to my math, thats 7.2% slip and that's pretty good! Later on the 27's were powered by 496's. I believe they raised the drive a couple of inches, switched to a 1.65 ratio and used 28" B1 props. However, they pretty much ran the same speed you are. Honestly, you're propped about right. High 60's is about all that boat will run with that kind of power.

I have a 2002 27' with 496 / 425 and 1.5 Bravo. Ran a 28" Bravo last summer and hit 70 once and she was a dog outta the hole; having BBlades lab me a 28" Bravo and hopefully it will be better.

Hi, I Have This Same Boat,It,s Hard To Get On Plane,Would A Smaller Dia Or Pitch Size Help This With Out Hurting Top Speed Much?

Smaller pitch will often help with planning. However, if you run into the limiter at WOT, you will lose speed.

At the risk of stating the obvious, make sure you bury the tabs until on plane.

Otherwise, this boat labors badly to plane and it's pretty hard on the drive.

Even When I Have It Tabed Out - With 4 People In The Boat It Really Labors Hard,It Has A 23 Pitch Hydromotive And At WOT Its Perfect, Did I Read That You Can Haved The Prop Cupped More For Better Bite?Or Is That Asking To Much Of The Boat?

Boat should have come with a 24 Hydro, put you right at 70mph.:ernaehrung004: Previous owner probably switch them up to plane faster.

There's always the ying and yang for me. It's difficult if not impossible to have it all. Cuping the prop will give you better time to plane and hole shot but it will cost top end. Depends on who you are.
