I have a 1996 26 Scarab with a 502 with B&M 250 with 5lbs. of boost and a 1050 dominator, a Merc 2" Shortie with 1.34 gear ratio, and a lab finished 28 p Bravo 1 rh prop. Problem is I can only turn it 4800 rpms. I tried a 25 p Mirage Plus but could not get on plane nor get to top speed without cavitation. I am wondering if my drive height is too high because trimed out to 8 I can make a decent rooster tail but no cavitation. Wondering if a 24 or 26 p Bravo 1 is a better choice or Hydromotive. Please give me your suggestions. My speedometer only reads about 70 but that would be 27 percent slip. Seems really high. I am not sure the speedo is correct. At 15 percent slip it would be 80 mph. I need to know what I am doing wrong here.
Thanks in advance.

There are too many variables to really help much. In general terms, a 28" Bravo is a lot of prop for a 1.36 drive. Unless you have a great deal of HP (750+) I am not surprised you can't turn that higher than 4800. I would recommend to try a 26" Bravo as your next step.

I believe you talked with Brad at our shop today. This means we are on the job to get you set up correctly.
If this is not true, let us know.

I have a 33' 1987 Sonic SE. It has twin 454's. I tried a 23-pitch 3-blade prop and hit a whopping 37mph. I changed to a 25-pitch and got 47mph. The engines were hitting 4500 rpm with the 25. That is probably high for the 454's. What gives? Any idea on what prop I should switch to???????????????
