Just got my engine and drive installed in my 1995 velocity 280. We ended up going with a blown 555ci with a imco sc drive with a 2" shorty. The motor puts out 1100 horse power the gear ratio is 1.5. leaning toward a hydromotive p5 or a maximus? What do you think?

If go Hydromotive, use the P5X not the P5.
I've always liked the Maximus Labbed after a baseline set of numbers. We have test propellers if you are interested.

Velocities have traditionally run their best with Hydromotives. They like the semi clever style blades of the Q4 or P5 design. Too much blade surface tends to upset the boat when it it up on it's pad at speed. The lift created by the Hydro design picks the whole boat up and allows the boat to maintain a more level running attitude while being up on it's pad, thus more control at speed. Lots of speed with your nose in the clouds is not what you want. Believe me, I had a 32 that ran close to 100 and in my experience any big bladed Bravo style prop was a nightmare.
