5 Maximus Surfacing or Not

Have friends that bought a 42 Fountain -2 XR boat. Having problems losing blades off of Maximus props that came on the boat. Broke a propshaft, replaced the prop and them lost an ear on the replacement prop. Recently lost an ear on the other side prop. The thread is in the Fountain Forum.
A couple of the responses have to do with surfacing or semi-surfacing the Maximus Propeller. In an another post Bret you said you helped to design that prop with Mercury, so is it designed to surface or are the failures that are being seen because of aggresive X deminsions from the builders?
Just trying to help some friends that are tired of buying props.
Brett keep up the good work, thanks in advance for your help.

They are not surface drive props. If the X-Dim is not too high, then it is the driver or too much HP. I have twin 600hp on bravo 1 drives with a 1 inch prop shaft. 12,000lb boat. I have not broken anything since I purchased the boat in 2005. I don't go airborne either and I am easy on the throttle. I have to admit, I don't like to baby the boat, but I do it anyway.

Notice what Brett says in post #4 of this thread about the blades surfacing and flexing.
