I have a pair of 6 blade props,I am about to try on my 36 Spectre. Im just looking for some more info on them. The only markings are: 69011 02-32-05 on both the left and right prop. They appear to have staggered blades as in 14 1/2" pitch blade then 15" blade ect... Any help would be great. Thanks

The propellers are 32 pitch built in 2005.
We haven't had too much luck with that type of set up. First I'd be turning the propellers inward. Take it easy till you become comfortable with the feel before WOT. You will get more stern lift than 4 or 5 blade propellers. The staggered diameters is as much a marketing ploy as a actual performance enhancement. At least the large diameter in only 15".

Thanks for the info. I just figured I had them may as well try them. I have been running Hydro P5s. Dosent sound like I am going to like them as I "think" I may want a prop to carry the bow alittle more vs. lifting stern.

Absolutely try every prop you can. Just be cautious with each new test. Every identical hull will still be different.
Back in 1998 I was still at Mercury Racing and we helped Jay Pilini develop the best propeller for his 30 Spectre. He helped us with the Bravo Sportmaster and we then continued to develop recipes for the 32 and 36 Spectre cats.
To this day we do many Spectre cat set ups. We were doing all the props for Frisini when he bought the molds too.
As interesting as it may sound, Custom template Bravo 1 propellers are still the propeller of choice on these hulls. There is just a trick to the geometry we use.
If lower cruising speeds are you biggest goal, some 5 blade props can be made to perform well.
Thanks,
Brett

My 36 is set up like the old Zipp Express with the drives up a little higher and inboard of the factory locations, so yes its even a little more differen the standard 36. As far as props you hit it on the head, I am shooting for a couple of sets of props with excellant mid range and cruise and then a set or two for all out top end. Sounds like when I get to top end I will need to call you for a set of Bravos>.

Let me know how the 6 blades work as well. There are some things we have done with those to help too.

Oh yeah.
Tempest Plus propellers were tough to beat in the stock spec. Custom T+ props got us the best results. He was always looking for the out of the box best and the Tempest won.

After testing about 10 different props, I ended up with a pair of 26 Bravos with larger diffuser rings and lots of cup added to the blades, kind of a Maximus style Bravo. They keep the bow in the air which helps the fuel economy. Never tried the Tempest though, when you say they were the best, best for speed, mpg, or all around? I get 2mpg up to 50mph, I can get 2.5-2.7 if I am by myself and light on fuel between 32 and 40mph. My top end is 57mph, but my boat has the forward fuel tank, forward seating, and full hardtop with open array radar, outriggers ect.

Jay considered them the best all around but he was always concerned about the speed. The Tempest Plus props got us over the 60 mph mark and that was always the goal.
