1995 27 Fountain Fever, single stepped hull, with a 525sc, and bravo 1 upper XR lower 1.5 ratio. According to the original test report it's 17" XD, and was tested with a 14.5"x26p 4 blade, which tells me it wasn't a bravo 1 or hydromotive. What prop should be ran on this boat?

My -93 came with a Mach Sterndriver 24", they were 14.5" diameter. I guess your boat came with a Mach. Fountain started to use Hydromotives in mid 90s. What rpms are you seeing at wot? Maybe a Bravo 1 26 would work.

Well it has a 26p bravo 1 but it's a RH, guy put that prop on it when he changed the lower to an XR and his 26 LH hydro had a solid hub. So boats doing some things that aren't characteristic for it (lists to port). Spun that one too about 5000 at 70.8 but it wasn't trimmed out as far as they trimmed it on the performance sheet from fountain. We were like 4 and they had it to just under 6. Also was not using any tab so it was walking and wanting to rock harder to port cause of the RH prop is my guess. Have a buddy with a LH 26 bravo 1 with removeable hub. So going to get it and put it on there. Do another sea trial and see what happens. Will trim to over 5 and have tabs set to 2-2.5. Was reading labbed bravo 1 is best in most cases, what do you think?

Yea I thought the same, but from searching some threads it looks like a hydro is better top speed only, but bravo is a better all around given both props are out of the box props, but a labbed bravo is better everywhere in most cases. Is this what the mass majority of single engine fountain owners are experincing? My thought is that in order to get the performance from a bravo that the Mach sterndriver had would have to add some cupping to match the bow lift of the Mach prop since the Mach is a smaller diameter, and do some blade matching to gain the 200ish rpms the bigger diameter of the bravo 1 (15 1/4" vs 14.5" of the Mach) lost from having a larger diameter. Am I on track here or would I be better off with a hydro?
