Default 97 380 avenger powerquest. looking for props

I have a 97 380 avenger with 15.25" bravo 1/s 24 p runs 63 at 5100 rpms
it also ran with 14.5" spineli bros 25 p 4 blade ran 65 5100 rpms rough water would cavitate from time to time

that was with stock 502 mag mpi's tired maybe 400 hp I I was lucky
now I refreshed them and they are at 450 hp each.

wondering where I should be looking for props

5blade?
4blade?
what brand and benefits

I heard a Maximus
the p5
and a bravo 1 are the best choices for this boat!
any advice would be great thanks!

I have a set of 28p bravos that are wrong on my 2000 380 avenger I just bought. They slip heavily at speed on the 2000 hull. I will be taking them off shortly to try others. I think I need a 5 blade but have a set of higher pitch bravos offered to me to try. I'm getting 64 mph with Bimini top up wrapped in boot @5000+ rpm equates to 25% slip considering them only 27p.

I have a 1997 38 Avenger with stock 502mpi mags around 920hours. I am coming up on my 11th boating season with this boat. When it had stock 25p Mirage plus props it was a 67-68ish mph gps top end. After having Bblades tweak them a couple times I picked up a solid 1-1.5 mph gps and will see 70mph in the right conditions. I bought a set of used 26p Bravo 1 props and would only see about a 66mph gps top end. After Bblades tweaked them I see a 68mph top end and a low 40mph gps cruise around 3000-3050 rpm. For 90% of my boating the labbed 26 Bravo 1’s are my favorite all round props on this boat. They are a little slower on top end but more than make up for it with higher cruise speeds at the same rpm. The Bravo 1’s also seemed to respond the best to labbing over the Mirage plus props, which Brett from Bblades said they would.

Exhaust won't gain you hardly anything on the 496. Factory manifolds actually flow pretty well. Labbing props might get you 1-2, but anymore than that you will need more motor.

Bob Lloyd is a member here (ftm marine) and di a ton of dyno testing (engine and propshaft dynos) + real world testing on 496's exhaust (factory and aftermarket) plus some Raylar upgrades a long time agoand posted them up here and other sites he was/is a member of. He later cleaned up all his info to be copied and showed here:

Thanks for input. I see 47-4800 rpm WOT. Currently I GPS 75-76 good conditions. 73-74 all day... LOVE the boat just always wanted to see 80.... guy at cobra marine in ft Lauderdale thought bblades was a joke and the ones they run are what he recommended 27-28 please 4 blade.. for around 3500 for set minus trading mine in so around 3k... just trying to do reliable changes. Boat runs too good to F**k up.. he tried selling me a pair of 650 cobras..
