Can 30p Bravo 1 be made into 29p and still work fine?

Or will it compromise the performance of the prop? Would I be better off to buy a new 29 and sell my 30? Is labbing worth the cost on a Bravo 1.Thanks.

A 30 Bravo is already only about a 29 actual pitch. If you are trying to increase rpms, then custom labbing is your best bet. Have it labbed to a true 30 pitch and you should pick up a couple hundred rpms and 1-3mph. BBlades usually has a winter special on labbing.

The prop is already labbed by BBlades but I'm over propped. I did some testing last month with the Rinda test tach hooked up and gps speedo. My best run was 82.0 mph at 5,390 rpm. That is perfect but the problem is that to do this I was trimmed so high that the prop was surfacing and slip calculates to 20%. On another run with more realistic trim I only managed just under 5,000 rpm and 79 mph. I'm over propped. The 525 needs to run near the rev limiter at 5,400. So I'm back to my original question. Can it be taken to 29p and work as well as a new 29p prop?

I would think a labbed prop would not hold up to bending the blades back due to being thinned already

IMO, Prop slip% is over rated. If you keep trimming and keep gaining speed, then keep trimming.

If you really want to step down to a 29, then I'd start with new prop instead of reworking the current one. I'd talk to BBlades to see if he'd recommend starting with a 28 or a 30 for the mods.
Merc did sell factory labbed 29's but they stopped doing that in the last few years.

No new 29s? Wow. Just my luck. I will call Brett. Thanks.

Contact Teague. See if they still have some odd pitch Bravo props.

Call Brett

The best running props on my boat are 28's turned up to 29's. I also have 30's turned down to 29's as well but the 28 to 29 eek out another 2 MPH. This is 100% common. He can tune the props to your boat and set up to exactly the RPM you want. Brett will get you 2-4 MPH and the boat will feel better in mid-range as well. A little pitch tweak, a little cup, a little rake.... Brett will shoot you straight.

I will do that. I've done lots of business with Teague.

Good info. Thank you. My current prop came from BBlades and has worked awesome but it's hard to get my RPMs up where they need to be.

Ive sent him props and Brett gave me a 400 RPM difference. Not snake oil. Pretty routine actually...
