Default Want to try a 5 blade, what pitch?

I have a 28 Pantera with a 598 making 800hp. Boat runs 80 with a 26 quad 4 @5600, labbed 28 bravo 84@5600.

Searching for a 5 blade to get cruise speed up and better planing. Basically a good prop for family boating where I'm not too worried about WOT. I like to cruise at 50ish and both props above do that @4000. Be nice to get that same cruise @3500.

So what pitch? Lots of people I hear from talk about how the 598 likes big props and seem to be able to keep pushing bigger pitch without dropping much rpm.

Lol. Ventilation issues. Yes. Still working that out. Went to.change plugs and wires and came to.find out the #2 wire on distributor wasnt on all the way. I would.imagine that's not helping things. Going out tomorrow to see if there is a change. Also bought a Max machine batwing, so if it still.is acting weird, that's next. If that doesn't work I'm switching back to xr lower.

Call FJ propeller @ LOTO. I just talked to them about 5 blade props last week and they were very helpful in answering any questions I had ( https://fjpropellermidwest.com/ ). Bblades is taking emails only right now about prop questions due to work load and staffing issues.

I would try short tube lab maximus or max5 26 pitch 15.25 dia. You will gain a lot of mid range cruise speed but with your HP on SC lower be carful. Just my 2 cents....

Thanks. This stuff has me so messed up. Talk to one professional last week, he said prop it to 1000-1500 rpm over torque peak. Well my torque is so flat, that putts it at 5150 torque peak, engine hoist peaks at 6000 on Dyno, right now it's propped for 5600 using a 28 labbed bravo. And he says I'm killing my drive and I need to get more rpm, so drop pitch. But issue is I also have a 26 hydro quad 4 and it's basically propped for same rpm as bravo, but it's 4-5 mph slower.

Mechanic says he's done a bunch of 598's and you can just keep.throwing pitch at them and they keep spinning them without much rpm drop. So why would I want to drop.pitch to get tons up if hp is really flat between 5600-6000.

And why are we so concerned with the torque separation when we cruise at 3500-4000 which is usually peak torque anyways. I don't see how torque itself can mess up a drive at a constant RPM like cruise. I get that if your roll on the throttle hard, your applied torque could mess some stuff up. Idk
