Well if you dont want to swap props, put a 1" spacer on the drive to help keep it from blowing out....

Not arguing, but....

Why won't the Mirage get the PQ 280 on a plane? My dad's 27' SR did just fine with one. I think he was running a 19p Mirage on on a B1 drive and a stock 454@315HP. That boat weighed 5500lbs dry. Is the stepped hull the difference?

The propshaft height on those PQ hulls are far higher than a sea ray. Weight isnt only factor here and yes stepped hull does make a difference as the top couple inches of water is more turbulent.. You are welcome to try one, but I certainly wouldn't spend money on a 3-blade owning your hull haha. I have a 380 Avenger Powerquest with twin 502mpi propshafts are only about 4" below running surface directly in front of drive. I run 30p Bravo I 4 blade (round ear) props. I tried 2 different sets of 4 blade cleaver styles (Hydromotive QIV and labbed Mach Sterndriver) and the boat wouldn't even hardly raise the bow without blowing the props out even with tabs down. I do even get a bit of cavitation with the Bravo I's getting on plane. Not all 4-blades are guaranteed to get a hull to plane either.
