I need help getting the right prop for my recently aquired 24' Python. I would love to hear what you are running. I have a 480 hp. BBC and bravo1.

If I remember right mine was around the same HP with a bravo. I ran a labbed mirage 25 and I think I got it to 72 but I'm not 100% sure on the speed since Ive slept and drank since then.

That is similar to what I am seeing with the 25 Mirage Plus that came on the boat. The problem is ,I cant get on plane with 4 people in the boat, and it porpoise's at cruise speed, even with the drive all the way in. It won't take much trim at all.It only takes a little at WOT. I tried a 25 Hydro QIV X and I could plane with 5 people on board, but still had the porpoising issue and still could not use much trim at all.

If you just bought the boat you should spend some more seat time with the boat before making a bunch of modifications. My old 24 python with 502 had similar driving characteristics and would not handle well at slower speeds. At higher speeds 55+ once you get it on the pad it will handle great. The boat is not made to cruise at slower speeds. Mine had a 3 blade mirage prop I believe, couldn't tell you anything else. The first couple of times on the water were pretty bad experiences with lots of porpoise and with prop blow out so bad would have to come off plane before prop would hook up again. I did not make one change on that boat and all the problems went away with seat time except that it would often launch and come down on it's side so I ultimately sold it. The next buyer was able to fix it some by shifting some weight around.

My boat (1995) does'nt really have a "pad". It has a 3 1/2" wide flat at the transom that tapers to 0" about 30" forward.
