Have a couple of questions here. Before I ran in the shootout this year, I was looking at my vids from last year, in the first one I was running a 30P prop that I could not turn more than 5050 RPM trimmed to the moon, but the boat was setup perfectly on the water and was able to get 74 out of it. I put my 28P that is stock, but refinished cause it had a ding in it. I didnt trim it up near as high, and was able to get 76 (not sure if the juice the radar guns on Sunday, but I saw about the same speed as I did on Saturday on GPS. The boat was more bow down and bouncing around not able to get it on a "bead" essentially. So this year on Saturday I trimmed my 28 way up and was able to get the bow lift I wanted out of it and got 75, but I was bouncing off the rev limiter the last 1/3ish of the course and I have never done that before. I think I might have a couple of issues here, my RPMs were reading close to 5500, which I dont believe is at all possible with a stock 525 EFI. So that is something I need to look into, but also, if Im bouncing of the limiter with a 28, does it make sense to lab the existing 28 in some way? or would that just cause the RPMs to go higher? Or should I get a 30P and lab it for my boat? Not sure what the best course of action is here and looking for some help.
Videos here for reference.
Last year, 30P prop. trimmed to 7 maybe more
Last year 28P trimmed to maybe 5
This year 28P trimmed to 7 bouncing off the rev limiter
Thanks,
Andrew Naab

I fight the exact same issue (525 26 Hustler).
I had a stock 28p bravo bent into a 29 with added cup on the tip. Cool Breeze did it, best results so far but will only drop you 200ish rpm give or take.
Tried a labbed 30, terrible results.
Sent it to BB, improved but not as good as a stock 28.
Currently trying a 28p 5-blade turbo (P5x knock off). Haven’t had enough time to test top end.
Props are tough to dial in.

This is some good input. I didnt know if you worked a 28, if it only made it more efficient IE more RPM. This sounds like a good way to go as well. not looking to spend thousands to get a couple MPH, but would eventually. I had cool breeze refinish my prop this last time around, so ill have to talk with them about it this winter for sure.
Thank you

I can send you the invoice from Cool Breeze if you want to see exactly what they did.

If you have it labbed/thinned it’ll usually raise rpm. I was on the limiter so I wanted more bite, no thinning of the blades was done, bent for more pitch and cupped for more top end. Trying to lower slip#’s and rpm.

I would be interested in that info, as well.
Thanks. Brad.
