Getting everything together to complete my 233 this seaason. Sourced a few spare Merctrans and drives and finalizing engine build and parts.
Looking at a Gen VI 468 with 450hp at 5300.
1.5 Drive
TRS prop shaft is in the stock X.
I always figured I would run a 21p Mirage Plus. But I assumed my prop slip would be lower around 10-12%. More likely around 15%.
Cruise RPM around 2800-3000 at 35mph.
Using a Comp Magnum 224/224 hyd roller with 112LSA.
WOT around 5400...looking for 65mph.
4 blades are hard on TRS as they load up hard on the gears. I heard the REV 4 props tend to have good bite down low, but have 3 blade level slip up top.
233 Hulls have a lot of rocker...are they naturally going to lift the bow...where we don't need a bow lifting prop?
Gen VI with iron L29 heads and alum carb intake. Stainless Marine exhaust. Merctrans is 70lbs.
For some 'Perspective'...Cary29's '68? Formula 233 with the XR drive and 520 Merc Racing power...runs 70mph. The 520s are rated at flywheel. Unfortunately, he's selling it.
