Also dave in your picture above are you using the 1708 betweeen the layers of wood or is that a different material? Appears to be different in the pic. Thanks

All the layers are labeled, that is 1.5 oz csm (chop strand mat) between the wood

I'm glad you have the pics covered lol

Thanks for all help Dave. Really appreciate it. I think I might go with the 3 layers of half inch vs. the 2 layers of 3/4. I dont think the cost would be that much more compared to more strength.

Ok so I took a lot of time off from this project. Back on it now. I am going to order from us composites. How much of each product do I need to order to finish this project?

Seebold265NJ 02-13-2013 06:08 AM

I just finished the glass work in my Seebold. I did transom, engine stringers, engine bulkhead, cabin stringers and the floor. I used 50 yards of 12 inch 1708 tabbing cloth, 20 yards of chop strand, 18 yards of 1708 50" wide, 5 gallons of cabosil (resin thickener) 4 pounds of 1/4" chop strand fibers, and 20 gallons of Poly resin. I got all my stuff from www.uscomposites.com. That seemed to be the cheapest place for all the materials. Shipping is rrreally expensive on this stuff though.

SNSTER 02-13-2013 06:32 AM

holy crap thats a lot. Any idea how much you used on just the transom and stringers?

Seebold265NJ 02-15-2013 06:07 AM

I probably used at least 15 gallons for the engine stringers, transom and cabin stringers. Alot of resin goes into making the thickened resin. 1708 also soaks up a ton of resin.
