I may take you up on those. See how tomorrow goes. Aren't those 5 blade? Would be much easier if I was still in town.
We spent today addressing bugs and small projects since it rained most of the afternoon. Opened up the map rings on the turbos, which should help low end spool. And I spend about 8hrs with the ECM's and the emulator hardware on the bench trying different tune modifications. Was attempting to enable Post Injection pulse, which should add some more heat in the pipes down low also. But GM didn't make it easy, even with all the cool tuning software on market, but I got it going. Also hopefully found our misfire issue on Port at high RPM. Either way we have all the tools and laptops loaded up, and my best GM tech ready to get serious tomorrow and Monday.

Update: Making progress. Most of the bugs worked out, finally getting back to some proper testing. Made a couple adjustments to the tuning that didn't work out as planned. They have an issue making boost below 2000R because of the big single turbos. But we knew that was an issue we could overcome with the 2sp trans. However because there is no MAF, these engines fuel totally based off of boost. Not boost, no fuel, no fuel no boost..
So after spending 10 or so hours hacking around on the bench testings changes like post injection, I load both ecms and we hit the water Monday afternoon. The thing was a total dog, wouldn't spool at all, and put out less smoke than a vape pen. While floating down the river we swap back to the old tunes from FL, and it runs a whole bunch better. But still has a bad lag below 2k.
We do manage to get up on plane a 5 or 6 times, after what seemed like 5 or 6 minutes each time. But did get some video revealing a bit of drive height, but exhaust is blocking until ya let off the throttle. So going to mount cameras somewhere low to get a better angle of where water meets the props. So far top speed 67mph, not pushing it too hard yet. Prop slip on these 18x30's is 19% at 60mph. Below 60mph, it's running 40-60%. Think we need more blades..
Here is some screenshots of the data, and a video from a 60mph run showing 19%slip. Yesterday I got the fueling issues under control, and it had much better response low and midrange. Didn't have to spin it near as long to reach 50mph. But didn't log any any data cause was getting dark on us. Heading back out tomorrow and try the 18x32's again.

I was just tickled to see 60mph. Especially on second run when I realized once on plane, the port engine was only spinning 2k, and had zero lbs of boost.. I reviewed the data, it confirmed that Stbd engine was carrying the boat 62mph while port was dragging, with prop windmilling whole time in the video. It wasn't even straining to maintain speed. So she has plenty of potential.
Now about this crappy weather..

Dude, I think thats really impressive. I mean the 40 isnt the most efficient hull and its fairly heavy. Do you think the setup is even giving bow lift (at all)? I mean, the secret to every Baja I owned to go fast was bow lift with lots of trim to free it up. The trip 525 boat only did 75 but the 700sci boat was over 90. I think you already kicked azz.

sorry as there is so much written here to absorb easily so i have to ask, what has been to date the biggest setbacks in your quest, or what has hindered your goals with this boat? engines seem reliable, so transmission, outdrive or boat?
