Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
Does anybody have a current email address , or number on
Jim Deitz I would love to talk to him & pos. get some old photos that may not be here on the board already. If any body has it you can send it to me as a P.M. please. Thanks, Scott |
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
Thats a great natural instinct your daughter has. :D
|
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
Man that is a sweet 28. I about pissed my pants when I looked at it in 2003. It's like brand new.
|
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
I agree it is like brand new, it only has 67 hours on it. My youngest daughter & I were climbing around in the boat yesterday ( exploring ) & when you lift the stowage comaprtments up anywhere in the boat whether in the cabin or under the rear seat, you can still smell gelcoat pretty strong.

Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
What year is this boat?
Nice acquisition! |
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
Thanks RLW it is a 1996
|
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
Very nice!!! What do you have for power?
|
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
I am putting a big single in it. However I am up in the air of exactly how it will be dressed.

Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
Congrats on the purchase Scott, Good luck with her. If you are converting to a single I may be interested in one of the #4 drives and Transom assemblies, Let me know if they are for sale. Chris
|
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
Hey Chris ,
I wish I had the drives but I bought it minus power & dives. I am looking around for a drive & transom assy. my self. Are you giving up on the stern powr ? |
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
Not giving up on the sternpowr it is just that I have always visioned the speedy 4 or 5 as my favorite setup for a single engined 28 footer. It would allow low mounting of the engine and therefore lots of room for blower and big superchiller without a scoop.
|
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
First let me say cute kid................ way cool boat you have to be super excited.............go with a single big cubic inch retarted blower motor if you can swing it, awsome boat keep us posted with pics of the progress it is like crack for me ....................
|
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
A single 28 Saber is one of my dream rides. I have thought about this setup and would consider a Konrad without the tranny in the extension box setup. I know it puts the engine forward to accomodate the tranny outside the box.
Is there room for that configuration? |
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
Thanks guys, & Yes am am excited about the project. I have plenty of room for any drive combonation that I want to go with. I also have plenty of engine height room with no scoop due to the raised engine hatch. I would really love to try running a konrad setup. Any doners out there ???

Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
I recieved my exhaust via ups this past thursday. they are gill manifolds with stainless marine dry tailpipes. So it should sound pretty nasty. I really need a drive soon. I just listed my 33 plymouth rat rod on ebay with hopes of turning it into an outdrive ! We will see what happens.

Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
Those headers are sweet ! & so is that power. I have a really good motor & as of last week I now have exhaust. What you have that I would really like to get ahold of is that #6 & I would be in pretty good shape.
|
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
Sell that car and you can buy my extra #6.
Can't go wrong with that baby on there, Check300 on the board here has a single engine #6. Matter fact Saber set the X-dimention for him and he run triple digits with her. I'll have it for a bit, have tomany other things going on. Cougarman |

Here is a pic. of my new exhaust.
I also included a pic of my youngest daughter daydreaming about that first trip to the track. ( I couldn't resist adding that one in.) |
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
Is that Imco?
I really liked my Stainless Marine. |
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
They are Gill manifolds with Stainless Marine dry Tail pipes.
I must say the stainless Marine tails are really nice pieces. |
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
What did she have for power originally?

Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
2 650 HP 615 CU" It was quite healthy & probably one of the fastest 28' boats ever built. ( I did not say the fastest before anybody starts attacking that statement. ) However there have not been many boats of its size that ran as good as it did & would run it in pretty much any conditions you dared to handle.

JD BTW: No 28ft offshore V boat should be capable of 100mph, eventually your gonna use it at the wrong time ,with that in mind we parted the boat out to protect the innocent.:D :D No Excuses 28' Saber Cougarman |
Re: No Excuses 28 is now home!
Thanks Cougar, It was & still is a bad ride. I hope to have it hitting the water early next summer as a single Vortech supercharged 511". It will be making some pretty good HP #'s & should run quite well. Although It will not hit the
104 mph that it once did , It will also not be an embarasment & should perform well. P.S. If you feel the urge to donate that #6 to the cause & effort I will crank up the boost & we will see how close we can get. :D ( J/K although I wouldn't turn it down.) Talk to you later , Scott |
