how far in NJ are you if I wanted to take a look at it, the hulls I am looking at been in are the sutphen 30/31/33 seen the pantera at the races when I raced in 02. looking but have not seen the joker 28. I will pm my email for pics later tonight going out thanks. up my way theres 3 sutphens that are for sale. so boats look bigger like my 24ol lot bigger than any of my friends 24s and with 650hp is faster. but I am going to keep my motor as a back up to the 572 blower. now what motor were you getting the top speed of your boat was it 65mph with a 500hp, weight whats that, I need to figure out what speed 1000 to 1100 hp will do on your boat. one of the newer sutphen 32singles we are running 92 on about 1000hp its not dynoed so could be more cause with 800hp they got 85gps. mine was 85 with 650hp. to NYC its 3 hours I think to the tapnize [sp] bridge. so how far from the tapnize thanks. artie

I'm under 2 hours from the bridge depending on how fast you run. I would say you're 4 1/2 to 5 hours from me. Yes, those speeds are with a carbed HP500. The boat weighs around 5k rigged. I was told it was a couple hundred pounds lighter then most because the entire boat is balsa cored. 1000hp would be badass. I know they made the 28 Saber with twins that ran 85mph and 90 mph with 850 and 950hp. I would think adding even more hp and dropping over a thousand pounds from another motor and drive you would be into the century mark. Here is a link to some articles from Powerboat Magazine. The 28 Saber won the Offshore Performance Award from Powerboat Magazine...only boat under 30' to ever win it. http://seriousoffshore.com/forums/showthread.php?t=778

I guess that would have been No Excuses huh? The ones I was talking about were the Cyclone "85 for 85" boats. 900 total hp...not per side.

NK what do you think a single with 1000-1100hp would do?

There is a guy in West Michigan with a 30 Checkmate, a single #6 and a huge motor going well past 100. I think storm is probably really close. No Excuses was a little wild at 106 I heard and there was some left in it The owner just never went and got it.

NK

BTW It would be really cool to see it

I too would love to see myself what 1000-1100 hp would do in a single.. I heard from somebody at one time there was a pretty big powered single somewhere but never heard anything about it ?? & to be honest I can't even remember where I heard it so thats not allot of help, I just remember somebody gave me a dudes name that I obviously forgot..
I am hopping to see mine put down some pretty good numbers for a single however it will be nowhere near what it was in its "glory days".. I heard my boat knocked down 105 on the gps when JD had it & I do know well the boat had & has a gps in it..

I was really wanting to put a #6 on my boat, but it just didn't work out in the ole checkbook.. My power is really kind of on the bubble for justifying a 6 in my opinion but it would have been nice to have that ability to really throw sonme huge power at it if I wanted to later on.. That being said I'm pretty comfortable with my ITS XR b/c I know there are several guys making them live under more power than I plan to put at it for now..

what power , did you change your x with the 8'' box I have I would think 4'' would be = to 5 to 5 1/2'' no box. cause 6 and 7 '' looks to deep. I have looked at a lot of vees with prop heights changed mine from 7 to 5 in the baja picked up better handling and 8mph with carb change.

on the singles what was the prop x at did it change from the 6 1/2 it sounds deep. I would have to fill transom hole in re cut $ to make the konrad higher, do you think 4'' is a good start or 3 1/2, I can add spacers. I figured my vee and a friends are set at 5 to 51/2'' on 24 and 26ft vees and run in the 80s. no boxes so with the konrad box 8''= 1 h =4'' starting point what do you think. I now the stepped hull boats I am looking at 3''.
