Default 1999 WELLCRAFT Scarab 23'

I was looking at this boat on the internet the other day and was wondering if any owners had some info. Is it good for the gulf, how fast is it, range, how does it handle in various sea states? Anything else would be appreciated.

Thumbs up Re: 1999 WELLCRAFT Scarab 23'

The boat should ride great for it's size just remember that the big pond greats nasty sometimes not too far out in a 23 footer what power does she have?

It's a great 23' boat. Had an orange one for 5 years. It's a 70+ boat with the 502 mag. Handles like a dream, take wave well for it's size. No major trouble with the boat. There is no wood in the consturction of that boat. I would rate it 9.7 out of 10.

Did you ever find a scarab sprint?

Always wanted one of those...

Why not a 6 cyl though?

I purchased it two months ago. Since then I have replaced the Tach, added a floscan, replaced the depth finder, and upgraded the Bilge pump. The Sprint I have is an 18 footer. It has a 20 gallon tank and at wot (about 50 mph) it only burns 5 gph. It came with either a 3.0 or a 4.3. I boat in the Tampa Bay area and pick my days. It is a wet boat. I can probably squeeze more speed if I carried less fuel, and polished the props. I dont know if you can get more power out of a 3.0 without blowing it up.

Default Scarab Sprint

Sounds like fun. Do you have any pic's?

Were some 18' and some 19'?

What year did it change?

Right now I have two Banana Boats, but I am thinking of selling one and finding something smaller to keep inside my garage, since the Banana won't fit...

Why do you get wet in the scarab? Does water come in over the side? or the bow?

BF I had one of those for 3 years nice little bang around boat.
I have a brand new manifold & riser for that 4 cyl.
I also have a Mirage plus 19p that seemed to work well on my boat.
