Air,
The boat that you are referring to is now known as "Rum Runners" which runs in P5 and the canopied Scarab is now known as "National Guard" and runs in P4. The boats that Joe and Greg are referencing are the F1 model that were stepped hulls of which only 6 were made, model year 2000 only. I forget what boats Bob has had thru the years, but I do know he ran hull#1 of the 2000 F1 model in F1 in 2001("AleHouse", "Christie's Photography), then sold it to a gentleman in southern Alabama who brought it back out in P4 in 03-04 for a few races. Between the two, the deck I believe is very similar, if not the same, but the hull is apples and oranges from what you saw in 94. Also the weight is approx 700-1000 lbs lighter in the 2000 hulls. Greg sent me a picture of his the other day and I must say it looks pristine and show room quality, now if I can just figure out how to get him to bring out and race it a time or two:party-smiley-004: |
I had the opportunity to see mine sitting next to a 29 Extreme on trailers and was surprised how similar they looked. The steps looked very close in design. Thats as far as my knowledge of the Extreme goes.

Would anyone know where I could get the 2 transom lift brackets that came with the boat? My F1 did not have them when I bought the boat. I have hull #3.
Thanks, Tom Those are pretty common lifting eyes as I have seen them on several race boats throughout the years. For the life of me I havent been able to find them on the obvious sites ie Teague, Dana, Hardin, but thats not to say they dont exist obviously. I will keep up my search to try and find something out more for you, but like Greg said you might want to post in the General race section and get an answer quicker than I might could in my search. trent |

Areyouliving, if it is a Larry Smith 26 I would think it would be an excellent project. I know the 2000 LS Scarabs were called built specifically for F1 racing. Just don't know what the earlier models were labeled. The F1 may have just been a racing series at a particular point in time.
As I understand it, all the Larry Smith boats were built with racing in mind and all built to a high standard. The earlier LS 26s were great boats. |
