"Old School Scarab Race Boats"?
#1
I watch the Apache Offshore Challenge video here about once a week (a little excited right now from watching it) and was wondering what happened to those boats "Revenge. Gentry eagle, Mr Terrible"?
Those are the three that really stick out but I would like to know about any of the old school Scarab race boats.
What happened to them?
Do any OSO members own them?
Got pics past and present?
OLD SCHOOL HARDCORE OFFSHORE!!!!
i LOVE IT.
Thank you
AL.

speaking of, anyone remember a black 36-40 footer from early 80's called Tough Noogies with turbo motors? Was in this area and don't think was raced but last time I saw it listed for sale in FL and then was on west coat. (sorry to hi-jack)

Mr Terrible is still owned by the Herbst crew out here on the West Coast (they are in Vegas but the boat stays in So Cal). It only runs the Catalina Ski race.
Revenge is alive somewhere, just can't remember the story on it.
Gentry Eagle (one of the 43 ft versions) is also here on West Coast.
Satisfaction is here on the West Coast (only runs Catalina Ski race)
There are a couple up in the SF Bay area also.
There is one for sale now on ebay. No race history. (my boat)

Does Mr Terrible still have that maroon paint scheme.
I love that boat.
Anyone got pics?
Spoke to you on Sat about your boat. Shes still at the top of my list. But I have to finish the expansion of the biz first.
I forgot to ask. How wide is the beam?
Thanks

The beam on my boat is standard which I think is 8ft.
Here is a link to pics of both the Mr. Terrible boat and Satisfaction. Not very good pics but all I could find quickly. Also I think I remember what happenned to Revenge. I believe it is now the "Pennzoil" boat that is for sale in the OSO classifieds. A step bottom was added.

Sorry, it's a new ad so it takes some time before it is searchable. Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ocusZbsQQfviZ1

Yes, center steering but never raced. The original owner was an attorney from Houston. I think he wanted to race it but didn't. He set it up to be able to do a fast cruise from Miami to Key West. Wanted something he could go 70mph all day long without stressing the equipment. Hence the large displacement naturally aspirated engines and no frills features. Needless to say it cruises effortlessly at those speeds.
