Nauti-Buoy,
Did you glass the swim platform to the hull? Are you going to put the rails back on? How about the vents?
I replaced the ss vents on my 28 Excel, made them out of a peice of corian. It worked out great.

TOMR,
Thanks for the complement, I am glad I posted the pictures before ordering the rub rail. everyone thanks for the advice on the rub rail and complements. I am going to put a stainless or aluminum rub rail back on. Back you your post Tom, I have already put the original stainless vents back on ( It didn't cover up the graphic like I thought; actually adds another type look to that area). I am planning on putting the rails by the engine hatch and the bow rail back on it. I don't know why but I like the orange and chrome look. When I get the pictures I have of the whole project downloaded from the camera I will post them. I had a very bad experience with the first guy that said he knew what he was doing with fiberglassing the swim platform back on. I will show those pics as well.
Sorry for being so long winded, but one last thing. Has anyone put a 2" shortie imco lower on a 28' scarab excel with any good results??????????

NB,
The drives on these boats seemed to have been installed deep. I would think 2" higher X dimension would be an improvement although I don't know what effect it will have on handling. My boat runs 75+ and although it rides up on the pad, it is very stable. I have toyed with the idea of raising the drive but it seems like a lot of work. A 2" shorty might be the ticket but it's a lot of $ to experiment with!

I'm running a 2" shorter Imco drive and a Land & Sea stern jack. When running fast with the trim up it gives me a 4" higher X than stock. The factory set the drive 7 1/2 below the pad.
The boat runs unbelievable with this set up. I dont run the boat wide open much (The wife dont like it) But with this drive set up the wife likes the ride 10 times better. we now easily cross wakes at 70.
Your boat looks great. I prefer no rails on the deck. Makes it look sleeker. When you install the rub rail use 3200 and through bolt it. It will make the hull a lot stronger.
What do you have for power ???

beautiful, when we did rubrail for the red cig, we used a white rubber and painted it red to match boat, then used a stainless insert, so it looks like just a stainless, but has the cushion of the rubber
