Scarab I think come from the Egyption times. If you watched the movie tomb, they attacked people and ate them up till thier was nothing left.

I think for the purpose on water for eating the competition up!!

Which, I have been known to do quite a few times on our local water ways down here!!

Yeah the term comes from Ancient Egyptian mythology. The scarab (commonly known as a dung beetle) was associated with the sun god - Ra. The Egyptians revered them because of their ability to roll balls of dung 3 times their own size. It was as if they were the ones behind the sun when it rose in the morning & went down at dusk. They were therefore immortalised with the sun god. They were also thought of as good luck. That is why they are seen in cartouches on many walls of tombs in Egypt.

Hope that helps.

I read somewhere that larry Smith used the name Scarab for his boats because a friend of his was associated with the Scarab Racing car. The Scarab racing car was very fast in its day.
