Is the wellcraft hull the same as the Larry Smith 29? How did the stringers and transom hold up for you guys ,did they all need major surgery?
Have always loved the looks of the old Scarabs.Might be a future smallblock project someday. What kind of speed with what setups and horsepower are you guys getting? |
The stringers needed some repairs up front and along side the gas tank. Also had a small repair behind one of my transom assemblys. But overall 85% of the boat was solid( salt water if more forgiving)
Don't know for sure what the difference of the L.S. 29 and the 30 s-type is but they sure look close to the same. My setup is 454-350hp w/trs and merc trans. 23p mirage props. The best I have seen was 60.1 mph-with a tailwind:D |

Yes the trim is wired direct...The fuses are under the dash mounted on the bulkhead...used a Blue Sea systems fuse block 12 posisition Pt#5026. The boat was completly re-wired. So I had an oppurtunity to do it the way I wanted it. The switches were cole hersee lighted toggles. The trim switches were cole hersee lighted rockers. The only thing I need are the round labels like the org. dash had for the switches. Can't find them anywhere....does anyone know??? My old ones were 2 faded and scratched up. Hope this helps...let me know if I can answer any other questions.
Beautiful Scarab! |

westcoast.... NIIIIIICE boat! Looks great man.
Regarding your labels for the dash... Did you try to make your own yet?? Try WATERSLIDE FILM for making decals on models. I am sure that if you try it on an experimantal piece of board and expose it to the elements, it may work. You need to clear coat it though! Only real experience I have had with it is on actual models but did the dash of my Barracuda with lettering BEFORE I cleared it. It is a few step process.. but it seems to work. The company is.. Bare-Metal Foil Company, I use most of their products. www.Bare-Metal.com |
