Got my new boat yeah!

Well I did it.Against my wifes wishes.I bought JJONES old 1998 38'Scarap P-38.I picked it up last night.Next, as said in my last posts,i need motors.I have been doing some research and think I want to go with a pair of used 575sci motors with super chillers. The boat was set up with 525sc motors with superchillers and XR drives. It has pick up and dumps for superchillers and deck scoups for the added height.I want EFI but dont have the bank for new (600sci,700sci) power.I am on a budget.I do not want custom power,I noticed a couple of years ago when I went to the Windy City Poker run that 90% of the boats has factory power.HP500,500EFI,525sc,600sc,850sci,1050sci ,Ilmor V10 even one with mag 502s'........Anyhow,It goes out on Monday to be fitted for a new cockpit cover, full cover and bimini (for the wife). Then new power(i'll probably go through any used motors before install to freshen them up),full colorsand ,buff and wax.Maybe if I have enough dough i'll send out outdrives to Teague or IMCO for upgrades(never broke a drive and don't want to). Finally, the boat originally was set up for or was sold to go to Europe ,sooooo the shore power is 220v50hz.I need to switch to 110v 60hz.Any help would be nice.Does it need all new wiring?Transformers?Inverters?Connectors?switch board? It has A/C and fridg.and that was a major selling point for the wife.So I need to get the stuff working.Lastly,I cannot believe how little storage this boat has.My 1993 31' Scarab had more storage,a big problem for my wife.It has a fourth fuel tank under the seat(50 gal)for a total of 300 gallons, wow I could go to Hawaii .Ready to start the project wish me luck Mike

Congrats ! ! ! There is just sometiing about the mystique of a Scarab. They are just the "coolest" boats out there on the water. When you do the paint... go bright!

Donzi38zxxx, acually Wellcraft made the P-29 in 1997(29 of them with 350mpi and blackhawk drives).I looked at one in the summer of 2001 at **** Simon Marine in Dana Point for about 58k .Yes I loved the boat but wanted a larger cabin and that was why I bought the 31' Fittipaldi (1'wider,2'longer and 6" more cabin headroom). At the time I couldn't afford a 38'which I always really wanted. Then this P-38 came up for sale-It,to my knowledge, was a one- off custom painted boat. The best of everything,my favorite paint scheme on my favorite boat....life is good. The only thing that was missing is that it is an odd ball year(not too many 1998 boats)without the AVS hull. This is the year they switched over, so you see a lot of 1994-95-96 for sale, some 1997s' then it seems to jump to 1999-2000 etc.Oh well

congrats on the P-38. Very nice Scarab. Are you going to re-paint it? I like the old paint scheme, very unique.

Mike, everything works off of 12v including the battery charger so when plugged in at a dock, the only thing that wont work will be the ac.Lights, fridge, stereo, head, water pressure etc will all work, the batteries are new but will drain if the refridgerator is on all night with out the battery being refreshed. The driver side battery runs all the accesories and is a bigger battery,if it does die, there is a parallel switch on the dash that if you hold it on,you can start the drivers engine off of the other battery, !I tryed to email you but it returned!E mail me and hopefully i can respond so I can answer any questions that may come up. [email protected][/email] See you on the water , Justin
