Default Panthers and Bravos

Picked up an old panther off e-bay over the weekend. It is 1987 with Bravo's. Didn't think they had Bravos back then so I assumed someone rebuilt the transoma nd converted to Bravos. I found another on on ebay this morning and it has Bravos. Is it posibly they came from the factory this way?

I actually think that in '87 you could get TRS, Bravo's and I have seen Alpha's on them in '87. I think it was the first year of a bravo on it, and only came on the 330 package.
