How's that truck pull the boat? I'm ready to pull the trigger and wondering if my rig will do. Have a 2500 hd w/496 , doesnt even know my 29 is behind it.

We only got to take it out twice so far but we love it. It is a really sweet ride. The HD pulled the 11000 lb load 750 miles at a steady 80-85 mph with no problem whatsoever. We did put an electric brake controller on the truck and it definately helped on braking. We will be trailering the boat but its only about 5 miles from storage to launch so we know we won't have any problems.

This is an old thread, but I was under the floor replacing the sender for my main tank and checked- The main tank on a 38' Scarab (which I think might be the same exact tank for a 31'-33') is 146 gallons the side tanks are 25 gallons- says right on them. Mike

Chuck, my boat was originally built with 525sc motors. The previous owner installed superchillers and added scoops and water pickups for them. He sold the boat w/o power so I decided to go with 575sci motors for three reasons.1) it was already set up for superchillers with the scoops and pickups.2)I prefer fuel injection over carburation3) the price was right 26k for both motors + rebuilding( another 6k). The bad is no closed cooling like 525 and the newer sci motors 600+700. No port injection like all the new sci motors. But those will run you 55k+ a pair used and I didn't have that kind of cash. Plus the newer sci motors wouldn't go with my scoops. So my decision seemed to fit.Mike

This winter will be fun with swapping out the motors.
I am hoping the drives will hold up until we feel like spending money on some XR's...:D

If you are easy on drives, Bravos are still a great choice. The prior owner of my boat ran with the superchillers on the 525sc's (est. 575-625 hp) until one drive failed just cruising along. Remember XR's have straight cut gears, so 1) they have to be services more frequently,2) the gears don't last as long 3) you will lose 2-4 mph on the top end due to additional drag. The guy that rebuilt my gimbal assemblies in December said Xz's would be a good option. Helical cut gears but still stronger drive thatn a Bravo-1. I don't care about the 2-4 mph and already have Xr's so I will just stick with what I have. Mike

Sounds like XZ's might be the way to go then. I wish we could afford some Konrad's and just be done with it.:D

I guess we will see what the situation is when (hopefully if) the Bravos fail.
