Default 22' Scarab - 7.4 carb in 1998?

On the Wellcraft site, it doesn't appear that the 7.4 was available in 1998 with a carb, only the MPI. Yet my boat, and other 1998s that I've seen advertised, have the carb, and the MPI seems like an uncommon option.

In the service manual I have, there isn't even a listing for the 7.4 being available with a carb in 1998, only up through 1997.

Am I missing something here? Or did Wellcraft just use leftover 1997 motors in the 1998?

Thanks,
Andrew

boat could have been built in 97 and sold as a 98.are you sure the engine is original?

It's a boat not a car. I think anything goes.

it could also be that the person who bought the boat in the first place ordered the boat with a carb engine instead of the mpi...you find people who tend to prefer a carburated engine rather that an electronically equipped one....and im one of them....

infact my 22 scarab has a 454 carb...
