I had a 1991 CV, 500hp with Bravo did 75mph. But I did take it to Westerly to get the hook taken out of the bottom last 2 feet of the pad. Wellcraft put it in there on purpose to make the boat safer for newbies. Was an awesome boat... if only the quality was better I'd still have it. But it started falling about structurally. I maintained it well but used it hard.

The "hook" is a wedge that Wellcraft put in the mold to force the bow down. You can tell if your CV has one by using a yardstick or level on the bottom (anything long and perfectly flat). Place it on the pad on the bottom from the transom going forward. If your boat has the wedge, you will see space between the yardstick and the bottom of your boat about 2 ft forward of the transom. You can get a boathouse to grind it off but I wouldn't bother unless you upgrade the power in the boat above stock. Only then would it be worth the effort.
