Markel. $3400 a year. I'm so happy. I had a hard time even getting anyone to call me back let alone quote me. I couldn't find anyone to write a policy on my 1986 Sutphen, with the new engines, to replace my Progressive policy. I've been looking for months. I thought I was putting together an uninsurable boat.

I insured my '88 Scarab Excel 31 basically with no questions asked through Progressive other than the normal stuff. I want to say that I am paying under $500 a year here in Michigan. A survey may be required to show that the boat is seaworthy.

I am at around $750 with Progressive, but it is an actual cash value policy for $20k hull coverage, low liability limits and they'd drop me anyway when they found out about the re-power. I'm dumping a lot of money in the boat. If I were to sustain damage over 50% of the $20k "value", they'd be likely to salvage the boat. It is simply inadequate coverage even if it were free.
