Hull #5 P-29
Anybody know anything about this boat? I had this boat (#5) after Mark (Oshkosh Thunder). I miss the boat too, but we moved up in size. I bought in 2007 and sold in 2009 (or so). This boat did about 78 on the GPS but it had some bolt on parts (aluminum maniford i think). I had the sales report on this boat from when it was new. This boat also spent some time at National liquidators in Florida before I or Mark Had it. Maybe been in saltwater? This boat has considerable stress cracking around the windscreen and the front no slip deck is near impossible to make shine, I hated that the most about that boat. I will answer any questions you have about it. I changed both water pumps and hoses when I had it - pain in the butt!! -Joe |

Joe, I bought that boat from the dealer in Indiana. I had some minor gel work done and it looks great. Do you have any other info or paper work? Thanks Mike Dale

P-29 #5
MDale11,
I purchased that P-29 from National Liquidators. They moved it from Missori to Florida to try to sell. It never saw salt until I bought it and requested a test run. It was in the Ocean for about 15 minutes. They then flushed the motors and completely sprayed the boat down top to bottom. It had just over 20 hours on it when we pulled it up to Wisconsin. Bottom line, you can be assured that it is NOT a "Salt Water boat". Hope you enjoy it - awesome boat. |

Mark @ Oshkoshthunder,
Thanks for clearing that up on the saltwater comments. I do not want false info out there on the boat. Had it out 1 time this year and I am very impressed. I did notice the blackhawks shift hard in and out. Have they always been that way? Thanks for your help. Mike |
Black Hawk hard shifting
Mike,
The port and SB nuetral saftey switch's on your P-29 interrupt the ignition momentarily when shifting. If they are not adjusted properly, you will have hard shifting. This is true on most MerCruisers, but it is especially important on the Black Hawk since you are swinging (2) big props. Also, if the 350's are idled up too high, you will have hard shifting. I believe the idle should be set at around 600. (It's slightly higher than most MerCrusier applications.) Corrosion in the shift cables will also cause this. Disconnect the shift cables from the engines and try the shift cable movement. That will at least eliminate (or verify) the cables from the shift controls back to where they hook up by the engine. It takes a while to get used to the Black Hawk temporament. Make sure you get the feel b4 docking in a current or you may cuss a bit! Let me know the next time you are going to be on Lake Winnebago - maybe we can hook up and talk about your boat. |
"LSC crash," thread there is a P-29 in the back ground on a fork lift. I wonder if that one has been accounted for?

Removed the rails from the bow along with the non ski (nice'n smooth), removed the ladder from the swim deck and put new non-skid Reads" " SCARAB below: caution don't bust your ass". New cockpit interior and working on the cabin this winter. Reworking the motors to SBC 427 naturally aspirated to get to 550-600 horse as well de-rigging the engine compartment and having it painted and cleaned up. Any comment on the Power? I know there is a 434 with Pro Chargers out there and would love to here from him on how his handles.

Not sure of any areas locally that would be fun to run boats as large as ours... |
