Where are all the p29's and what power ?

Where are all the p29's . what power are you running. I have hull # 11 , procharged 434's 650 horse each. I run on the upper chesapeake bay , and live near chesapeake city , md. It would be nice to find all 29 if they all survived.

Jeff P31 03-23-2008 09:25 PM

not sure about the 29s but i have a p31 on lake erie out of long point bay ont. 502's with pro chargers dynoed @ 750 through xr's & imco shorties. PS We do not go back for hats!!! :D

fastp29 03-23-2008 09:42 PM

i never heard of a p31 . is that a regular 31 that scarab painted special for a client like a p29 , same as the 38 i've seen on here.

Jeff P31 03-23-2008 10:31 PM

They only made 5 of them and they were a 40th anniversary model. I heard that 1 of them was destroyed and have know idea where the other 3 are. I am the third owner , a friend of mine bought the boat new in 96.It only has 260 hours on it . I just freshend the motors and it drives like new still. And it rides better than my buddies 31 sonic. :D

nova26 03-24-2008 08:59 AM

Jeff does your 31 have bench seat instead of bolsters? I think I've seen it before for sale. How long have you had it? Some pix would be great. :D

Jeff P31 03-24-2008 09:33 AM

I have had it a year now. And yes it has a bench seat in the back.I would post pics but my membership has to be upgraded first. :D

BY U BOY 03-24-2008 10:51 AM

All the p29's were 40th anniversary editions. I have even seen one p38 but have never heard of a p31. Are you sure it wasn't painted by a previous owner to look like one?

Mange 03-24-2008 05:03 PM

Can this one be one of the other 3 P31?

scarabman 03-24-2008 05:21 PM

I would like to see pics first, but I believe the 5 31s in question were built for the Scarab High Performance Boat School the was held on/near Sanibel Island for a few years. They were all painted to look somewhat like the P-29s.

fastp29 03-24-2008 09:08 PM

that p31 looks great . i'm sure it runs strong with 750's . is that hull lighter than a regular 31 . i guess it would run in the 90's somewhere . i still like the p29's better but i'm partial.

JJONES 03-24-2008 10:06 PM

P38

The p38 was a factory boat.It was not painted but gel coat with p38 logo on seats, dash etc.

Jeff P31 03-24-2008 10:35 PM

I would say that is one of the other three. It has the same paint job as mine.I know for a fact my boat is 100% factory origanial paint and was not used at a driving school. And yes they are kevlar layup. It came stock with hp500 carb motors and bravo1 drives . It would run out at 83 mph. Then the prochargers were added a set of harden headers and then the xr drives. It will now run out mid to high 90's depending on the day. still not sure how to post pics any help would be welcomed.

fastp29 03-25-2008 12:13 PM

i love that p38 , i wish i knew it was for sale a couple years ago before i dumped too much money in the motors i have now , or it would be on the chesapeaka bay now . hopefully it will be for sale again in the next couple years . its on the wish list .

Sorry, it won't be for sale anythime soon. I just got everything wrapped up at the boat shop yesterday (I hope).I want to lake test this week. Hopefully before my baby is born next week . Then I am going to mount my new a/c unit in it, and install the windshield (that has been sitting in my shop since last sept.) and I am set. BTW, I don't think they ever made a P-31. I saw that one that is for sale in Parker about six years ago being towed by an Escalade. The 5 or 6 Trainer boats that Scarab used were all yellow with corresponding numers on them (i.e. 1-5)Here is a pic of the deck I can't find any others. Also that is a grip of cash for a 31'. No step, big power or not , these days he'll be sitting on that forever. Maybe 45k max. Sorry getting so far off the P-29 subject......MIKE

My Bad, I didn't see your post Jeff about you P-31. I thought yours and mine we both just custom , but maybe they were factory boats. I wish there was a better way to trace this stuff. I don't think that anybody cares at the factory. Mike

Jeff P31 03-25-2008 08:59 PM

I called wellcraft customer service and gave them the vin number. They told me it was 1 of 5 and what power & drives it was built with. And where it was shipped to from the factory. Other than that the guy i was talking to was not very forth coming with info. :D

fastp29 03-25-2008 09:13 PM

BUB i am still running the blackhawks . everybody tells me to switch to xr's but i like the bh's just to be different . i run them to 6000 rpm's and haven't had any problems but i only have about 30 hrs with these motors and 80 hrs with the old 500 horse 427 sb's. they can be tricky around the dock sometimes in tight areas . 31 p props .

fastp29 03-26-2008 09:33 PM

i'm pretty sure theres 2 more p29's on the chesapeake bay . 1 out of middleriver that i ran with one day late last season . i believe he told me he had 383's with 450 horse . he had a set of bravo 1's on it because he was waiting for the bh's to get back from getting redone . i heard theres one out of white crystal beach but i don't think i have seen it .

I have been thinking about a blackhawk for my 21 for some time now. Very hard to find at a good price.

I love the p-29's and looked at one 2 years ago but it was rotted to chit so i passed. I was ready to buy the one in GA untill i heard it sunk and sat for a week:eek:

DirtyMoney 03-27-2008 06:17 PM

Unfortunately the one in Georgia sold to some unsuspecting fool. Now they have a 38 AVS there.

fastp29 03-28-2008 07:29 PM

shotime113 03-28-2008 10:02 PM

What kind of money blackhawks bring these days? Just curious.

fastp29 03-29-2008 05:13 PM

i've seen rebuilt bh's for 3000 - 3500 . shotime do you have a p29 with twin smallblocks or a regular 29 with singal bigblock.

Unitek 03-29-2008 05:36 PM

There are a couple around the Chicago land area. There was a P-29 for sale in NW Indiana for 45k obo on these boards just last year (maybe the year before). I think it was even on a Myco triple axle.

spazboz 03-29-2008 06:02 PM

There's a P-29 for sale around the Detroit area. Don't know who owns it though....

eric616rebel 03-31-2008 01:20 AM

fastp29 03-31-2008 07:19 AM

it still looks good, how is it running and where do you boat at.

nova26 03-31-2008 10:20 AM

Hey Eric. Post some more pix of the bad boy! Big fan of the P-29.

BY U BOY 03-31-2008 10:36 AM

Boat looks good! Did you have a survey done on it?

hunster 03-31-2008 10:39 AM

Nice Eric! The hull # is on the transom , stbd rear I think. Good luck with it!

eric616rebel 03-31-2008 01:04 PM

I actually live in Fort Worth, Tx ,, So right now the boat gets wet every weekend just at the little lakes around here but I have a lake house in Texoma and that will be it permenant spot when the weather is a little warmer... The boat is running great, the right engine needs a new IAC motor but other than that,, Its perfect..

eric616rebel 03-31-2008 01:11 PM

I will look for the number

No, I didn't have the survey done,, I guess that was my mistake but I did go out on it and I have been a mechanic for a big dealership here in town for 3 years now so I just looked it over EXTREMELY WELL,, but even though it went down, I still love it,,,, Here are some more pictures...
