actually a 29 ft boat will probably be faster and handle better with the twin small blocks than with the big blocks due to all the extra weight and the bigger drives. And use a lot less fuel also. And if you want to run with the big dogs why did you buy the 29 your about 6 ft short. And I will put my 34 scarab up against a 35 baja any day in the rough stuff. There isn't even a close comparison in rough water handling. CHECK OUT MY POST ON THE BAJA SITE BASHING SCARABS OH BOY are we gonna have fun now with the BAJA boys. SEE IF THEY CAN KEEP THIS FRIENDLY ---- NOT----

Hey Dinkerboater you want to put your 34 scarab up against a 35 baja. Go ahead baja hasn't made a 35 footer for as long as i can remember unless you are talking about the 34.5 foot motoryacht last made in 1995. The bigger drives with the big blocks? Wouldn't you want bravo's in a 29' going 70+ mph in all that rough stuff you run in? Ain't no substitute for cubic inches either. If you can afford the boat you can afford the fuel!

Outlaw you obviously don't know about boats! A 29 ft boat doesn't need big blocks to go fast. All that weight on the back of a 29 ft boat will cause adverse effects. And I don't get out my tape measure every time I blow away a BAJA. The point I was making was that a 29 footer isn't a big boat.I would rather have a 540 with 750 hp single in a 29 ft boat than twins. And I like to think that I have more brains than money and I don't want to waste either.:D :D

GOTTAHAVIT glad to see some of you guys can take as well as dish it out. Yes I do have 502's in the boat but they are carb'd and you guessed it highly TINKERED with ( about 600 hp each)
THE boat is very loaded down with all the stuff to keep my wife happy and still does 75 GPS on flat water - haven't had it out in the rough stuff without my wife (rev limiter) since I did the engines so I don't know what that speed is but I used to gain 5 mph in the rough stuff. And heck yeah I will give YOU a ride anytime. I do like the BAJA's it's just fun to tease you guys sometimes (baja daze started it on our site) MY last boat was a 251 chackmate which is a comperable boat to a baja. I loved the boat just needed bigger. Last year I took it up to hot boat weekend at hardy dam and I emptied all the junk out of the boat and it covered the floor of one of the garage stalls. WHAT A LOT OF JUNK.

Tinker- what was the name on your old boat and how long did you have it? What is your new boat? Do you run out of Grand Haven? I've been wanting to go up to hardy for the last three years but always have something come up.

The other thing concerning these little sqaubles we have been seeing on this sight; When it gets to that point we all need to take a step back to realize we are all very fortunate in our lives to be associated with a fun group of people that share the same passion. We must all be blessed at some level to afford to enjoy one of the greatest activities that this earth has to offer. Sun, Fun, Speed, Girls, Beer, Music, need I say more. Midnight:cool:

MIDNIGHT the truth is if you read the thread from the begining you would see that the SCARAB site is way behind on posts compared to the BAJA site so what beter way than to start a little friendly rivalry going on and let the baja people do the posting for us. :D :D :D :D I don't believe in putting a name on my boats but I do go by the name YES DEAR. YES I do run out of GRAND HAVEN most of the time. HOT BOAT weekend is great at HARDY DAM.

What was your old boat, color, year, and the new. Where do you keep it? And if you want some advice on naming, I'll give you a link to a nautical site that goes into great detail on poisiden (sp?) of the sea and how naming, not naming, and renaming, can bring you good and bad luck. No name is bad luck, and in boating we need all the luck we can get, ecspecially when we tinker with our motors. The fact is, allot of bigger boats to this day are documented , not titled or registered, and the name is of more importance than the vin #. I did not rename my last boat properly, and it gave me several no needed problems. MIdnight
