That's is one awesome boat, whats the story on it.........

it looks in great shape.

This boat was used in the second season 85-86. It had some far away shots in the show before it had a bunch of eye bolts and holes drilled in the fore deck to accomodate cameras and crew for filming " in cockpit" shots. this boat can be identified in the show by its lack of hand rails between the engine scoops on the hatch. The boat is currently running twin 565 CID engines dyno'd at 650 HP each. It underwent a COMPLETE refit in 2001 including all wiring guages controls engines transmissions and drives. This was done by the former owner Tom who lived in Rochester NY. He used the boat in the Thousands Island region of New York. He did a fantastic job on the boat. It currently shows 117 hours and runs great. Engines have roller rockers and CMI headers so it sounds nice without mufflers. Due to the damage done by the TV show, The interior was totally redone as well. This boat has documentation from both Universal Studios and Wellcraft as being "Used in the Show and driven by Don Johnson".

Pictures here include this boat with Rick Bravo Sr. And Jr. (I think) original camera men for the show on the fore deck, Don (Crocket) an PMT (Tubbs) along with bad guy Frank Zappa on board along with a current photo.

Congrats guys and good luck with them.

there´s a black and silver Scarab III at least on one of the episodes..there might be more of them too.
Got all the episodes myself but no time to watch them.
A good buddy of mine has a Scarab III...
Like a inflated Magnum Maltese IMO.

Yes, there were a few Scarab III's in the show. The one you speak of made a few scenes in several episodes. Also, in my personal favorite episode, "The Great McCarthy" there is a Scarab III named "Black Jack"... wonder whatever happened to it?

My hat is off to all of you guys and gals with the MV KV's because while I like the Scarab III's best, the MV KV's are what, IMO, made Scarabs as desirable as they are. All of you have wonderful examples that I would be proud to own.

This is one of my favorite threads and I enjoy learning what I have.

Best wishes to you all.

Is there any KV's on Lake of the Ozarks?

Back home from our yearly Poker Run over here.
Saw the maybe one and only Scarab III in MV Colours from factory...looked kinda good but really worn out.

Thank you Apathetic for your kind words.

Cheers to the KVs

Heres some recient of mine.

Hey Jim, congrats on the purchase. I may have had something to do with the way your dash was redone. Back when Tom was restoring your boat I sent him some pics of my boat and I see he laid out the top row of gauges the way mine are done and did his Vice sign simular to the way Bill Taylor had when he owned my boat. I'll put pics in the next post
