2nd(?) Maiden voyage P-38
Well I took the 38' out for a shake down before the summer. I had the fuel lines replumbed last month so the regulators return to the main tank (instead of back to the water separators) and the three aux tanks now all have their own fuel pumps to transfer into the main tank (separate switches for each mounted on dash). I put all new gauges in the dash (thanks CP) and replaced the electric fuel pressure gauges with mechanical gauges.I also ran my new 28" labbed props..... Results- well I have a fuel leak for the gauges that needs to be addressed. and I ran the same speed with the 28s that I ran with the 26s. (about 70 mph GPS)-BUT at 4600 RPM instead of 5200. I still have the 3 1/4" pulleys that the motors were dynoed with to put on (it has the stock 4" now). That should put from my current 4.5 psi to about 7 psi. It does have superchillers BTW. Here are some pics.....Mike

thanks, i've spent the last year at work with this damn boat staring at me everyday. Finally it is almost ready. I have a week in Havasu comming up in June and I want EVERYTHING squared away. So a few 120 mile round trips to Elsinore for 4-5 laps is worth it.Mike

Mike,we will not be there till the 15th threw the 22nd.To bad we cant hook up!It would be real cool to see what youve done with the p38.When your going out in the ocean, let me know and maybe I could take my boat aswell..If the weekend is right,my buddy has a 50' sail cat that he goes over to catalina with,we could meet him and tie up to him.

The catalina thing definatly sounds like a plan. I too have a friend who has 50' boat moored in Newport back bay that I have mentioned that idea to. Perhaps I'll drag the 38' to havasu for one last shake down on one weekend you are there. The 22nd would be great if I could find somewhere to store the boat out there somewhere for a week so I dont have to drag it back of everything goes well. Mike
