a couple pictures from this weekend! All the teak side boards and bow/ engine compartment rails removed! Stripped of all the stickers!

So I have started to compile a list of items I need to get for the outdrives. How can I tell which model TRS I have or does it not matter. Where is a good place to buy TRS parts other then ebay? I need things like new trim ram hydraulic lines both in the boat and out, new driveshaft bellows, etc. Any tips?

All the TRS drives should be the same....As far as parts I had to buy from my local merc dealer.

Another question about these TRS's the hydraulic lines that feed the rams go down inside the gimbal housing from the inside and attach to a manifold on the outside. I need to replace these lines and I am guessing I need to unbolt the gimbal assembly from the back of the boat to get those lines out? Is this correct?

No- the lines should go from the rams to a block on the gimble, which you should be able to unbolt and drop down. On my boat- which has Merctrans, one line goes from the pump to the block, and the other goes from the pump to a reverse lockout switch, then to the same block. You should be able to access all of the lines without pulling the gimble- hope this helps.

No luck :mad: I unbolted the manifolds where the lines enter the bottom of the gimbal housing and I can only pull the lines out about 1 inch, It must be a zero fit in the passage way where the hoses run so I guess I will be removing the entire transom plates, I guess now I can paint them the right way rather then painting them on the boat :(

You can't pull the block down far enough to unbolt the lines? Worse case scenario you could unbolt the lines from the pump and maybe get more slack- yours must be completely different than mine- that sucks.:mad:

I can only pull the block down about 2 inches and the lines are really rusted, I was going to just cut the lines but I still dont think I can pass new lines without pulling off the transom plate. My other thought was to do some nice stainless through hull bulkhead fittings and eliminate the lines passing through the transom assembly all together.

You can snake new lines without pulling the gimble- if the old ones are rusted just cut them and buy new ones- thats what I did. Not trying to talk you out of pulling it, but then you have to replace the gasket, and o-rings on the inside. Its not a big deal, just a little more work.:cool:
