Default Looking for info on a 97’ 26 Scarab

If anyone has info on how this boat performs, handles, things to look out for, etc. . I would greatly appreciate it. I’m kicking around the idea of a new boat and have found what looks like a clean 26 on boattrader. Years ago I owned a 22’ scarab and loved the boat, hoping the 26 would be like a bigger 22.
I have also seen a few 29 scarabs priced pretty aggressive. Anyone ever have both the 26 and 29? Differences? (besides the obvious 3’) Recommendations? Looking at the specs the 26 is 6” wider than the 29 and only a little over 2’ shorter.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I have a 26' Scarab 96 model, not much difference in the 97. It handles real and rides well, runs about 65-68(speedo). The boat comes up on plane real quickly with 2-3 people but like all boats if you 5 and a full tank its gonna take some rpm to get it there quickly. The 26' handles and likes the chop and if you like to get airborne it will do it nicely,,,,, after you get comfy on how the to tab and trim it out. Rough water is good as well just don't over trim or you have a stuff comin at ya. Mine is a 502 MPI/EFI and the only problem has been with the fuel system but every 502 MPI in very boat has, the vapor lock situation. Thats an easy fix. If the boat has the factory water baffle system for exhaust get something different. I installed Gil Manifolds, Hardin risers with thru hull exhaust. Build wise the boat seems to be rigged well from the factory. I can't think of any major problems you might have excepting engine/drive problems that will show up in a survey. My main complaint, the cabin. Useless except for being used in the horizontal position.

Now for the 29'. I have rode in them and don't see a lot of difference but I never drove the 29' Myself I can't see why the big price difference. But as they say bigger is better, it has to be right? For the money if the survey is good you get a lot of bang for the buck. Good luck in you search.
