Hey thanks guys, I 'll post some pics as soon as I learn how ..lol seems like every forum is different. Unfortuantly mine has a 454 not the 502 but it is in real good condition.

papawayne@comcas 09-19-2008 08:20 PM

How many SCS's did they actually make in 97? Ive only seen them online ..never in person. Mine needs some new decals on the bow..I guess that will be a sign shop job huh..

coolhand502 09-22-2008 08:20 AM

wellcraft dosen't know how many they made and i have never found a source for the actual production numbers. you are the first one i have heard of with a 454 option boat thats pretty cool

WOW!..I guess Im kinda special ...I guess...maybe odd...maybe not so special:eek::eek:

Unitek 09-23-2008 11:57 AM

They actually made some SCS scarabs with the 310hp 454 and even a 350, no external steering, fewer accessories and guages.

I seen one like this for sale for 13k obo in Florida with the non mag 454.

Wellcraft knows. After all, these are registered boats with VIN tags and build sheets. It's unfortunate they don't want to take the time to help a guy research a boat. Went through the same thing with mine. Had a chance meeting with a guy who knew people down there. One phone call and I had all the info I wanted with a build sheet.

Ive heard all kinds of numbers from 14 to 300. As far as 454 go I dont have a clue as most Ive seen advertised (and thats only been 3) were all 502's. Did they come with any type of air filter cover or just the fire arester?

liquidcolors 09-23-2008 05:46 PM

papawayne come out to bayyard point on a sat. or sun. alot of nice people hang out and some performance boat guys if you see a 33 scarab avs yellow flames graphics thats myself justin
its south of the shands bridge on the right about 2 miles south.

i think 502scs told me there were 14 orange ones produced so that number is probably right. i have only seen them with the flame arrestor and no cover

Coolhand, this dates back about 8-9 years ago. Don't know if the right people are even there anymore.
I made numerous calls to Wellcraft with no luck. The guy that helped me out use to work for Team Scarab. He knew the right people, made a call and got me in touch with a women down there that pulled together the info for me. I'm pretty sure it was a favor for him.

I'll be in the water Saturday for sure...plan on launching at Dr Lake ..maybe we'll come down and check it out. Is it a beach or resturaunt or what is Bayyard Point? We were going to Crab Shack but plan "B" is in effect now.

I've got a 97 502 SCS in white as well. Bought it new last year - original dealer never sold it and it sat on the rack.

Really enjoying it so far, but to be honest it's still too small for Georgian Bay a lot of the time when the wind is blowing.

Not quite ready to part with it yet :) I've got too much work into it to let it go.... from the motor, to interior, to stereo.... it's dialed in PERFECTLY. Maybe in 2-3 years.... my next project will probably be a canopied single engine cat - looking to go at least 120 MPH in my next project

Unitek 10-10-2008 01:46 PM

I have a 2001 SS-24 HTM with a Procharged 565 in it. So far it has gone 122.4 GPS banging the limiter. Should go 127 with the new 32p BBlades I have.

502SCS 10-12-2008 03:02 PM

Dont listen to him Oliverm5
I think his boat is imaginary :party-smiley-004:

I saw your add for your boat (NICE) when I was looking for the one I bought. I got mine from a broker in St Augustine. Love at first sight. Got the movie and whatched the boat chase scene 100 times. You have a very nice SCS looks like brand new!! I ve had to clean mine up a bit as the broker let it sit through the huricane (Faye) with the cockpit cover off. Still trying to get some history on mine.

502SCS 10-12-2008 08:36 PM

Yea Just west of Daytona
There is a white SCS in orlando that we run with from time to time
We should see if we can get 3 on the water at the same place same time for some pictures :-)

papawayne@comcas 10-13-2008 07:01 PM

Man were almost neighbors, Im in Middleburg Fla. We run the river alot. Im on the other forum back and forth just trying to see how many other folks have these boats. Im seeing they are rather rare. Trying to get some history and info.Cant find chit online. Yours looks like new man...it has been very well taken care of. My needs new decals on the sides (dock rash from previous owner) all in all its in pretty good shape. Doesnt have the 502:mad: but instead a 454 with tabs and external steering. Drives like a vette.

502SCS 10-13-2008 07:46 PM

Yep I love the way these handle .. They do handle like vettes and hey I know all about that :-)
Let me know when you will be heading out again. I was thinking about a lake weir trip soon .. Go to gator joes for som R&R

Like your Vette..and Chevelle...I sold my 92 vette about a year ago and you might know my neighbor behind me bought it...so now I get to see it drive by all the time..LOL Im a old super gas racer, braket racer for some 20 years...wish I had all that money back. Yeah, we need to get together one weekend with the other SCS too. How far of a ride would it be for you to Outback Crab Shack at Greencove? (just south of Shans Bridge on St Johns) Maybe we could all meet up somewhere. Ive got to put a depth finder in mine for the areas I dont know the water.

Hi fellow SCSer, Now I know of 2 SCS owners. I would suggest a good exhaust system would probably be the best place to start with most of your money, after that you could build towards better intake and carb, camshaft, head work etc... but it would be of not much gain to do exhaust last. Do you have the stock prop with trim tabs?

freshwaterfiend 10-17-2008 04:54 PM

I've got a 26P 4 blade prop and 280S K-planes on her.

502SCS 10-18-2008 05:57 PM

Took my SCS out to Lake Weir today .. Great day on the water!

Both days, do a search for for JAX airshow, the Jacksonville Power boat club is planning a raft up right off of NAS Jax.

I am going on Saturday--will launch off of 19 just north of Green Cove Springs, Blue Angles fly at 300 PM.
