Sacarb Meteor 5000

Hey Everyone,

Just took delivery of a great Meteor owned by an enthusiast in TX. He did quite a bit of work stripping the interior to the hull, outside paint, motors, drives, electronics, interior and exterior, and the trailer. He may even have done the air above. Definitely a labor of love - which is hard to appreciate unless you have been in one of these projects before (you want to spend what?), Everything not perfect but only little stuff.

This rig hauls ( 55-60 MPH cruise at under 4,000 GPM) and has the balls to scare the kids, oldies and wimps when you start skipping wakes around three grand or higher. Tope end isn't for me to discover quite yet. The motors sound sweet tuned to their synchronous humming, and the wake looks like a deranged vacuum cleaner spitting water when connect to a North Hydraulics 5 HP pressure washer (x 1,000).

My girlfriend at first thought of imminent end-of-life experience, minus the floating about looking at yourself peacefully, when we first hit the thottels at 2,000 RPM which jumped to 6,000 RPM sounding like 3 angry tractors on Nitrous just blew their speed governors, and the only question was when a piston was going to launch a lunar attempt. Suddenly it was like, "please stop, I am going to die" with tears, I felt truly sorry for a short while - while her kid's giggled in the back asking to go faster and make a bit more noise. Maybe too much of World of Warcraft does that to you, but I can't quite figure out where else they could get the experience to feel so jaded. Yeah, 2,250 HP 2 feet behind me with 3 x 10+ liter motors, but, hey look at my new life stats. OK - they are still just kids, but I remember when I was 12 and I was just.......never mind. The iPods and games were forgotten as the 2,250 HP for 3 triple Corba motors came on to song quieting any chattering in the pews. Suddenly, God was speaking through the 24 cylinders of 30 liters of 2,250HP looking to find a bite in the water. Everyone was kinda wondering who the next lunch would be and maybe now would be the time to bring up that number 2 in the clean tank might not sit well the captain.

Not to mind much. Even if you are going nowhere, you get there pretty damn fast and the bathrooms can't be too far away. Arriving looking slight dazed with hair-dos' like 1980's hair bands experimenting with wind tunnel styling, and 3rd person responses caused because the 1st person was still wandering around the boat trailer, we still managed to eat a light lunch while looking over the boats and water. Feeling happy, sunburned and a bit dazed, we headed back into our transporter to meet our sanity twiddling thrid thumbs by the pickup truck wondering, just where in the Hell went and could they come along as long as we didn't tell anyone.

Cruising Today

On the GPS today, 4,500 RPM is about 70 MPH. 50 MPH is around 3,000 RPM.

I looked that boat over in the classifieds several times. Great job with the restoration....just too big for me. Congrats!!!

You got a killer boat. For the folks that were interested that never saw it in person, your loss. This thing is like no other.
