Default Old Scarab

I am looking at an 84 32' Scarab that has been stored for 10 years.
One motor is apart, the other one supposedly runs, but has also sat for 10 yrs.
This boat has TRS drives that were new 10 yrs. ago and stored since.
Decent paint, all new interior and cabin stuff that is not installed in the boat.
Has a custom-made trailer with title.

Does anyone have ANY idea what this is worth? I would likely just sell it for parts if I picked it up.

I seethese boats in running condition going for anywhere between $7,500.00 - 12,000.00. I would start there and then start subtracking for the 1 motor that is apart, subtrack the same amount for the motor that has just sat for 10 years, (most likely fdrooze up or at least the rings have frozen)subtrack a little more for the TRS just sitting for ten years, (may need to be gone thru), subtrack a little more for the interior not installed. So actually probably should not pay more then a few thousand dollars.

That's about what I had figured, but is there a market for the trs drives/transoms?

I bought mine, 86 scarab 11 for 4,700.00. needed work.
have 74,000.00 into it for maiden voyage, had few bugs but was awesome. had survey done for ins. survey states 70,000.00 plus in receipts, replacement value is 125,000.00, yet above average value in todays market is $ 19,000.00.
How do you get a 50,000.00 dollar boat, spend $ 150,000.00.
just mt 2 cents.

Did you look at this boat? I did very very rough. You would need everything redone. It has been sitting outside for 10 years. It also had merc trans, and not sure about the starboard drive but I would go through everything..

It's still a 1986 boat. If you put it on the market now you might get $19000 for it. You just can't dump all that money into a boat and expect to get it back when you sell it. I'm in the same boat. no pun intended. I dump money in my boat for my own satisfaction and to have a nice boat. Could I buy a newer boat for the money I dump into my old one? Of course I could, but I can't come up with all that money all at once. so I stick with my old boat and update it as I get the money.

Older boats take more work, but most are built a lot better than than some of the new ones out there.

If he paid you 30K to take it, it would still be a losing proposition. But it's a boat. You already knew that, right? Personally, I'm a sucker for old school offshore. It's a problem. I'm thinking about electroshock therapy.
