Default Need help with buying a boat!!!!!

Hey guys I am new to the forum and I am thinking about buying a 22' scarab. I found one on boattrader and I thought it looked cool and was a decent price for what it has. Just wanted to see if I could get some feed back from people that own or have owned this type of boat. Any responses would really help. The link to the boat is http://www.chevroletpower.cz28.com/PokerRunScarab.html. They are asking 16900 which I thougt was a little high. Let me know what u guys think. Thanks alot Matt.

My scarab 22 is similar but I believe your is a little bit newer. Mine is an 89 with a 350 mag(carb). Mine is in pretty good shape and has a small cabin and all original except for the paint job, I got my boat for 5500 with the trailer and only 730 hours on it. So that seems a little steep to me but I am far from an expert on that.

IMO - 17k is high for this boat. He is trying to get some of his time and money that he has into it. Also not to mention the black paint...hot hot hot. I used to have a red boat and walking on that deck after sitting in the sun for a couple hours was torture.

I am running a 98 with bigger power and love it. Have had it for three years and ready to upgrade for a bigger foot print. Don't know how much speed your going to get out of the 350. I am currently pushing a GEN VI 502 with 500HP style intake and carb with speeds around 75-78. Price on the black one seems a little high, I am going to be asking the same for newer model with bigger power, custom hood paint, etc.

if you're interested, I can put you in touch with a friend that will be selling his '98 23' w/454. Located in San Diego. Used as a lake boat (in Texas). Better priced than the link above.
