I have an ol' 86' 21 foot Scarab. Shes old but still floats. Had a girlfriend like that once, but then that would be another story. It has a 454ci with through transom exhaust with a couple stubby 4" stainless pipes. Well the problem is that any time the engine is running you can't hear anything but the engine. Which is fine when my wife is with me. However, I get a lot of dirty looks at the launch and you know how the water bacon feel about it these days. Personally, I think it sounds pretty cool. But it can also get embarassing when you turn to your buddy and shout HEY LOOK AT THAT ONE ON THE PIER....... Well, you know how sound travels across water. Anyway I would like to quiet this thing down some without killing the hp I have remaining. Anyone got any ideas? I have limited funds and would consider used pieces parts. Thanks in advance.

If you can fit them between the risers and the transom-Dapar inserts should knock it down 6-10dB (quite a bit) and they are cheap.

Hello: Imco has a new
insert muffler that is
better than the one I made
I was with Team Scarab in
Calif. for a number of
years and these NEW Insert
Type really cut the Noise
down without cutting HP.
Call and ask Fred Jr. You
want info on Fred SR. NEW
Mufflers.
Tell him Mike J. Said to
Call.
We Run them on Riques Boat
and still run over 100MPH
