Default Scarab 28 expected performance???

Looking at a 28 excel to get me through a season or 2. not the prettiest but it will do. My question is with an honest 500 hp in it what should I expect from it. I have seen people claim anywhere from 60 to 72 mph. I am not really familiar with these hulls so any info is a plus. Thanks in advance.

i have been looking for a good deal on one of them for a long time, good looking boats and that speed sounds about right. Not that bad for a 4600 pound boat i would say 60 to maybe 70 more like 68 or 69 im thinking if you would like id sell you my boat and it is pretty and cheeper to.

I am sure you can tell by the username I have already done the Baja 226 Sport thing......Put a 600hp 496 stroker in mine, bravo xr conversion, paint, huge stereo.....was a really nice boat. Just not big enough. A bit to rough of a ride....thanks for the offer, it is a very very nice looking boat you have there!!!

Anyway, hoping someone can give me info on how this scarab 28 excel will perform.....70 mph would be nice, 60 is just plain to slow....

well think this way your 3400 pound 226 baja with 600hp would run?? with a 20 degree deadrise and they came with a small 8'' pad and that would make it faster with less drag...comparing it to a boat that is 6' longer with 100 less HP 24 degree deadrise and no pad and 1200 ex/ pounds at 4600 pounds more drag that will give you a good idea ... good luck with that 70mph but you never know till you try it, i love those boats

Mid to upper 60's doesn't sound bad. And good ride quality is a definite plus!!!

I think I will like the boat. I just don't want to buy a total turd!!!

That could be a possibility....why do you ask? Know something about it that I should know? If so please feel free to share. I don't want to get into something that is a mess. the reason I am looking at this boat is to save money. in the recent past I have just bought a house, vacation home, car, truck, and got engaged. I am just looking to get through a season or two with something that is kind of quick and makes some noise without a payment!!!

Please, give me your opinion on that boat!!
