29 with twin's or single ???????

so what everyone's thought on a late model 1995 to 2002 29 with either a single bigblock 575hp or twin 350 mag motor's, and of course what the top speed of each would be .
question 2.
would the 2 350 mpi motor's be more efficient then a single 540 ci. carb,motor ?

thank's
mike

Mike,
I have 1996 with a single 509mpi with a 2.3 whipple making about 620hp. I love it, best so far has been 73ish and its not that bad on gas if you stay out of the BOOST! I'm not positive but I believe in stock form the Mags will run 70 and probably be easier on drives.

twins over a single by far

I agree on twins. Easier to dock...probably less maintenance than the one "big" motor...and if one has a problem, you can always get back with the other motor. :drink:

I could be wrong, but I'd be surprised if it went 70 with the mags. Might be close (I'm gonna guess 65-67ish) but I dont think it'll run 70.

One thing I thought about when I bought my 29 were things like routine maintenance. I can get right down next to my engine on both sides and work on it. Also oil changes and the like are easier. A single 29 is defenitly not the fastest boat on the water though!

My 29 stock will run 67 to 68 mph you will not see 70 in a stock twin 29 scarab

I have been the twin route, I prefer a big single. The reason is fuel, maintance, and weight. I have a 29 Fountain 540 700HP and a 27 Baja Boss 509 m3 Procharged 730 hp. I embarrass Large twin engine boats all the time. I have friends here in florida that have 100k boats that struggle to keep up. when these guys gas up its around 1200 for the weekend. I spend around 400.00 Most of the guys only run wot 75-85 mph.

I had a single engine blown 540 putting out 820hp with a 1 inch imco shorty and it ran 85mph and it was very fuel efficient for what it was.
