Default New to me 1997 22 Scarab

It has the 454 MPI motor and I just dont know much about them. I have been searching all day and these are the questions I have still.

Should I be running premium fuel 91 octane?

How about engine oil?

It has a Bravo III 4 blade 24P is this a good prop?

What kind of idle rpm?

The motor says 4200-4800 WOT is that correct?

Thanks so much for the fast response and answers. So "no on fuel" what do you run or suggest?

I'm going to look at one this weekend. I'll bring it home if it passes my inspection.

Default Gas

I run 87 octane with Sta-Bil marine formula in every tank on my 96 Scarab 26ft with the exact same setup. Was having problems with vapor lock until i moved fuel/water separator filter.

so 20w50 oil, 87 octane, and 4800 rpm is the limit

I had the same motor in my '96 22'. I ran 89 octane...no problems.

I had 3 blade Mirage 23P and 25P props. The 23 would bump the imiter at 4800. The 25 would run 46-4700.

Thanks everyone, I ran a lot of 87 through it this last week. I added some Sea Foam also and it ran great.

I have no idea on regualr maint for this boat, motor and outdrive so anyone know where to get a manual or something. I hate to keep taking it our without knowing what to do between trips.
