What was the intended operating max rpm range for the engine when it was built? It seems to me that you are making peak torque pretty high up in rpm? Typically it should make peak tq down a little lower and then it starts to fall off as peak hp comes up. You might want to discuss your issues with your engine builder?

it was intended to operate between 4800-5200.
But the thing i don't understand is that when the cam is surpassed to operate between 2200rpm - 5800rpm then why does the engine stall at 5200rpm with such a small prop??

What would be the ideal cam for a engine like mine??

Can it be my cam there is much to mild for such a large engine??

A poor choice in cams could definitely cause these types of issues.

When the engine was dyno'd, was it done with all the accessories mounted to it? What exhaust was used for the dyno as well? Depending on what was done in terms of those things, as well as the dyno correction factor used, once installed in the boat, you may not have the HP you think you do?

I dont know what setup were used on the dyno, but i think that it was some kind of standard setup for a car engine.
Now i have borrowed a 27" tempest of a friend, just to see how i works, and if it stays at 5200rpm with a 27" then i know that it is only a prop issue.

Thanks for your replyes. I will get back when i have sorted it out..
