Scarab 22 top speed

Which prop would be good. Right now I am running a 15.50x22 pitch hydromotive. Speeds are 65ish depending on water conditions at 5200-5300 trimmed up some. I would like to not have to trim it much more then where its at. I can move this prop really easy. Motor is a 383 stroker with a 144 weiand blower. Guessing its making 450-475hp. I wanna keep the rpm's around 5-5300 or maybe alil lower. I am gonna try a 3 blade 14.50x24 pitch this weekend but I am thinking a 4 blade 25 maybe 26 would be something I would like. Is that to much?

Have same set up as you sam. ran this weekend 28pitch 4-blade 4800rpm 68 on gps then ran a 3-blade 23pitch 70 at 5950rpm. both props are used and little banged up. those are the only two i had to try.

I had a 3 blade 23 Mirage on my 22. Bravo 1. Stock 454. That thing was pretty quick trimmed up. Id say about 70.

No. Try 61. With a 25 M+ at rev limiter is 67.

I am running top speed 83 with a 466 BB Chevy.... Cannot tell you the prop info as have just purchased the 22 footer but will be happy to post when the specifics are obtained.
Any specifics (Good or bad) about a '98 would be great, Thanks

I used to have a 96 22 with a 502 MPI. Ran a 25 P labbed Mirage Plus. Ran low 70's GPS

Jfoster 03-24-2015 11:48 PM

I have 97 22 it was running a bravo 1 24 with modded 454 and saw low 70's gps. just build 600 hp 509 going to try a 26 bravo 1 and see where that gets me.

Gladhe8er 04-23-2015 02:02 PM

Had a 96 w/330 HP 7.4L. Ran 67 with a 25P Mirage 3 blade, some fuel and a couple people.

Importrepairguy 05-29-2015 10:08 PM

I just picked up a 96 mild 454 mag w/ 1410 Edelbrock Carb, Torquer 2 Mani and thru hull, boat came with a Labbed Mirage 23P. Kinda dinged up, so dropped off to have repaired, Prop guy said it was good for my boat. But I continue to read the 25P is best all around, just slower to plane. So, tomorrow I'm meeting a Guy in Miami for a 25 Mirage for $175. It's worth a shot & otherwise I wouldn't be able to use the boat. I have plans for 1.7 Roller rockers, IMCO -2" Lower, change to Aluminum Manifolds and maybe a head change in the winter. I'm curious to see how she runs.

Importrepairguy 06-05-2015 08:54 AM

I never picked up the 25P as I was advised by 2 seasoned Prop people it was too much for my boat, contrary to what I've read here... Anyway,, got my 23p repaired, back to new, was suggested I try a 22' 4Blade, for both hole shot and top speed. Any ideas how this would work out? I will probably never be in boatalone, and with minimum 1 person and cooler, don't want to have slow takeoff and just top speed, entertain the thought of pulling a tube as well. Thanks for any input. -Cheers

hullofjustis 06-18-2015 04:47 PM

take the hydromotive off. I have never had luck with them on a scarab. hydros lift the transom and barry the bow. they are great for pad bottom boats and steps.

therabster 07-09-2017 10:07 AM

Well the scarab 22 is a pad bottom?????
